Synopsis

In the wake of the Dropsite Massacre at Isstvan V, survivors from three shattered Legions, the Iron Hands, the Raven Guard and the Salamanders, come together on Pythos, an apparently unremarkable death world. Uneasy allies, they fight off the planet's predators while deciding how to strike back at the traitors.

When human refugees adrift in the warp find their way to Pythos, the Space Marines take on the task of protecting them and carve out a haven in the jungle. But the world is not as insignificant as it looks, and a gathering darkness threatens everyone on it. David Annandale's thirtieth Horus Heresy novel is a turn towards horror.
