Synopsis

The Crimson Campaign is the second volume of Brian McClellan's Powder Mage trilogy, plunging deeper into war as the fragile republic of Adro fights for its survival.

With the enemy nation of Kez pouring across the border, Field Marshal Tamas finds himself cut off behind enemy lines, forced to lead a desperate fighting retreat with a dwindling army and no way home. Back in the capital, his son Taniel is sidelined and disillusioned, even as reports insist the war cannot be won without him. And beneath the marching and the musket-fire, older and darker powers stir — the influence of the gods grows, and the true stakes of the conflict begin to surface.

Bigger in scope and relentless in pace, this middle volume expands the world and its magic while tightening the screws on every character. A propulsive continuation for readers who want military fantasy that keeps escalating.
