Sweet Venom
Grace has just moved to San Francisco and is starting at a new school. She is hoping for a clean slate, and she is also a little nervous. Then a minotaur walks through the door, and a girl who looks exactly like Grace arrives to fight it.
That girl is Gretchen, who has spent a long time being dragged out at odd hours to deal with monsters. Sending the minotaur back to the bleak place it came from is routine for her. Meeting someone who could be her double is not.
Greer, meanwhile, has her life in good order and likes it that way. Her routine falls apart when two girls with her face turn up at her door and say the three of them are triplets. They tell her they descend from Medusa, the Gorgon of Greek myth who was once beautiful and later maligned, and that their inheritance is a life of hunting monsters.
The three girls are teenagers who must find one another, join forces and accept what they are. This is young adult fantasy built on Greek mythology, told through three points of view in a contemporary American city. The tone mixes humor with danger, and the story opens fast, with a monster in a school doorway.
