Synopsis

Young farm boy Eragon discovers a mysterious stone that hatches into a dragon, thrusting him into a world of magic and destiny. He must learn to wield his newfound powers and ride his dragon, Saphira, to fight against the tyrannical King Galbatorix and his dark forces. This epic adventure follows Eragon as he becomes a Dragon Rider and battles for the freedom of Alagaësia.

American author best known for The Inheritance Cycle, a fantasy series that began with Eragon (2002). Born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Paradise Valley, Montana, he was homeschooled and began writing Eragon at age fifteen; his family self-published the novel in 2002, and Alfred A. Knopf reissued it in 2003 after author Carl Hiaasen brought it to the publisher's attention. He has also written the Fractalverse science-fiction novels To Sleep in a Sea of Stars and Fractal Noise.
