Synopsis

Detective Sergeant Peter Grant wanted a quiet holiday in Scotland with his wife Beverley (a river goddess), their toddler twins, his parents, and Nightingale. Instead, a dead sheep near Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, pulls him and Abigail into an investigation of big-cat attacks and other, far less explicable predators. Between the sea, the sand, and whatever else is in the sky, Peter finds Scottish magic tangled up with North Sea oil operations in ways that make a quiet holiday impossible.
