Still Just a Geek
Synopsis
Wil Wheaton began blogging at wilwheaton.net in 2001, convinced that his years as a child actor had left him stuck on the convention circuit. He did not expect anyone to read his random experiences and personal philosophies. People read them anyway.
This memoir revisits his 2004 collection of blog posts, Just a Geek. The new edition keeps those posts, adds annotated comments on them, includes later writing, and brings new material written for this version. The annotations are often funny.
The career behind the posts runs from Stand by Me to Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation. It continues through a role as an exaggerated version of himself, Evil Wil Wheaton, in The Big Bang Theory. Along the way he builds a large social media following, with more than 3 million followers.
Wheaton writes openly about his struggles with depression, about falling in love, and about starting a family. He also looks hard at his past work, his choices and his relatives, and describes finding writing as the work that fulfils him. The audio edition is narrated by Wheaton himself.
