Born in Cordoba in 1126, Averroes lived a life of both great renown and severe downfall. He championed the intellectual legacy of Muslim Andalusia, but his radical ideas, which dared to apply reason to faith and challenged dogmatic interpretations, led to condemnation by both Christian and Muslim theologians. Facing exile and persecution, he died an outcast in Marrakech. Yet, centuries later, his work continues to resonate.
