Something Wicked is the third book in the Wicked series, Lisa Jackson and Nancy Bush's romantic-suspense sequence set on the Oregon coast around Siren Song, the walled compound where Catherine Rutledge raises a family of women with strange gifts.
The murders come first: a killer with a fixation on the Colony women, and a body that pulls Deputy Savannah Dunbar and private investigator Lang Stone into the same case from opposite directions. Both have a personal stake in Siren Song, and neither is inclined to trust the other, which is roughly how these books work.
The series mixes police procedural, small-town suspicion and a low-key supernatural strand — precognition, telepathy, gifts nobody in Deception Bay says aloud. It reads best after Wicked Game and Wicked Lies; the Siren Song mythology carries across the books.
Nancy Bush writes suspense novels, often featuring crime and mystery. Her published works include "Greed - Tödliche Gier" and "Sinister." Readers enjoy her direct approach to storytelling.
