Synopsis

Set during the Napoleonic Wars in 1803, Sharpe's Fortress is the third and final book in Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe India trilogy. When the British army under Sir Arthur Wellesley is besieged at the fortress of Gawilghur by a numerically superior Mahratta force, ensign Richard Sharpe must lead a desperate defense while contending with dwindling supplies and the treachery of his old nemesis, the sadistic sergeant Hakeswill. As the siege tightens, Sharpe's cunning and bravery are tested in every skirmish and every betrayal. Cornwell's trademark vivid battle scenes and tense atmosphere make this a gripping conclusion to the India trilogy.
