Cassia and Ky, having reached the Rising, are separated again: Cassia goes undercover in Central City, Ky becomes an airship pilot alongside Indie beyond the Society's borders, and Xander works as a medic while carrying a secret of his own.
When a plague sweeps through the provinces, the Rising's plan to use a cure as leverage against the Society begins to unravel, and all three must decide how far they will go, and who they trust, to see it through.
The final book in Ally Condie's Matched trilogy is told across Cassia, Ky, and Xander's alternating viewpoints and closes out the story of the Society, the Rising, and the people caught trying to choose between them.
