Synopsis

In a world where demons are extracted from humans, the process is said to be ten times worse for the entity than the host. The unnamed narrator is an exorcist who gets the job done, regardless of the collateral damage to the possessed. His latest case is Prosper of Schanz, a man of science aiming to create a philosopher-king, who has unfortunately become demonically possessed.

About the author

K
K. J. Parker

K. J. Parker is a pen name used by British author Tom Holt (born 1961) for seventeen years before his identity was revealed in 2015; "K.J." honors a friend who taught Holt metalworking, and "Parker" is a literal pen name. Parker's fantasy novels, including Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City and the Engineer trilogy, are known for intricate plotting and a dry, cynical narrative voice.
