NOS4A2 is a 2013 horror novel by Joe Hill about Victoria "Vic" McQueen, who discovers as a child that she has a supernatural gift for finding things — and a covered bridge that lets her travel to wherever she needs to go, no matter the real-world distance.
Charlie Manx has a matching, darker gift. Driving his vintage Rolls-Royce Wraith, the centuries-old Manx can reach a place called Christmasland, an otherworldly amusement park of his own imagining where it is always Christmas Eve and misery is forbidden. He builds it by abducting children and slowly transforming them into something no longer quite human. At seventeen, Vic rides her bike straight into Manx's path and narrowly survives their first encounter, which lands him in prison.
Years later, Vic is an adult with a son, a strained relationship, and a career built on turning her strange gift into a series of children's books — while trying to convince herself that what happened with Manx wasn't real. When Manx returns from apparent death and sets his sights on her family, Vic has to use her own supernatural road one more time to save her son from Christmasland.
