Mister Tender's Girl
At fourteen, Alice Hill is attacked by two of her classmates and left for dead. The two teenagers say she was a sacrifice to Mister Tender, a figure who cannot be real. He is a monster invented by Alice's own father for a series of popular graphic novels.
More than a decade later, Alice has taken a new name and is working to recover. Then she realizes someone is watching her. This person knows things no stranger should: her scars, her fears, and the parts of herself she keeps hidden. Mister Tender, it seems, has not let go of her.
This is a psychological thriller built around memory, fear and a stalker who seems to know Alice from the inside. The premise is inspired by the real Slender Man case, in which a fictional creature became the stated motive for an attack. The book was a finalist for the 2019 Thriller Award.
Expect a dark, unsettling tone, with the threat closing in on a woman who has already survived the worst. The mystery of who is behind the watching runs through to the final pages.
