Jeffrey Eugenides (born March 8, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan) is an American novelist and short story writer. He is the author of the novels The Virgin Suicides (1993), Middlesex (2002) — winner of the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction — and The Marriage Plot (2011), as well as the short-story collection Fresh Complaint (2017). He teaches creative writing at New York University.
