Synopsis

Broke and reeling from a run of personal disasters, Jules Larsen lands what seems like an impossible opportunity: a job as an apartment sitter at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan's most exclusive and mysterious buildings, overlooking Central Park. The pay is generous, but the rules are strange — no visitors, no nights spent away, no bothering the residents. Jules needs the money too badly to ask questions.

Then a fellow apartment sitter she has befriended vanishes, and Jules begins to suspect that the Bartholomew's genteel facade hides something predatory. As she pulls at the building's secrets, she realizes she may have walked into a trap she will be lucky to escape.

Riley Sager's twisty thriller is a claustrophobic, gothic-tinged story of desperation, privilege, and the price of a place that seems too good to be true.
