Synopsis

Dominic Davenport built himself into the King of Wall Street, but his hunger for more has left his marriage starving. Alessandra, his wife of nearly a decade and a floral artist tired of being a trophy, finally reaches her limit and files for divorce. Faced with losing the one thing his money cannot buy back, Dominic must reckon with the cost of his ambition and fight to win back a woman who has stopped waiting. Unusually for the genre, the third Kings of Sin book opens with the couple already married, making it a second-chance story of a marriage in crisis rather than a courtship. Embodying the sin of greed, it is among the series' most emotionally charged and most divisive entries, splitting readers over its angst and its portrait of a love nearly lost to neglect.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is King of Greed part of a series, and can it be read as a standalone?

King of Greed is the third book in the Kings of Sin series. While each book focuses on a different couple, reading them in order is recommended to fully appreciate the overarching plot and character development.

  • How does King of Greed compare to Ana Huang's Twisted series?

King of Greed, like the Twisted series, features a steamy romance with morally gray male leads and strong female protagonists. However, the Kings of Sin series generally explores more mature themes and a slightly darker tone, focusing on established relationships or second-chance romances rather than new encounters.

  • Why is King of Greed so divisive?

It opens with the couple already married and the wife filing for divorce, making it a marriage-in-crisis story rather than a courtship. Readers are split over the heavy angst and the pacing of the separation and reconciliation.

  • Which sin does it explore?

Greed. Dominic's insatiable drive for more, and the neglect it causes, is what nearly costs him his marriage.

  • Is this a second-chance romance?

Yes, but an unusual one: the second chance is between a married couple on the brink of divorce rather than former partners reuniting.

  • Can I read it as a standalone?

Yes. It is the third Kings of Sin book and an interconnected standalone, though series order adds context.

  • Is it connected to Ana Huang's other series?

Yes, through her shared universe that links the Kings of Sin, Twisted, and other books.
