Synopsis

Raymond Webster Thompson charts his journey from a poor, working-class upbringing in post-war Britain, where his special needs made him seem the child least likely to succeed at school, to a career as a screenwriter, composer, and producer spanning Canada, New Zealand, and Hollywood. The memoir follows the founding and growth of his international independent television production company, and includes the story of how the cult television series "The Tribe" came into being.

In 2003, Thompson was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to television and entertainment. The book is an inspirational account of persistence against long odds, aimed at readers interested in television history and self-made success stories.
