Into the Gray

Laria, a transgender thief, is in love with a monstrous, immortal mermaid known as the Lady of the Waking Waters. To sustain the bargain that keeps them together, Laria lures cruel men to the mermaid's forest pool near the town of Scilla, so their lives can be taken in exchange for a wish.

This short, dark fantasy from Margaret Killjoy considers what it costs to love something monstrous, and whether a relationship built on complicity can survive a choice that changes everything.
