In Hollow Houses is the first novel in the Dark Matter line, a series of contemporary paranormal-conspiracy novels based on the Alternity role-playing game setting of the same name. Two investigators from the covert Hoffman Institute are searching for a missing partner when they collide with a charismatic extremist leader pursuing a horrifying vision of human perfection. As reality and paranoia blur, the investigators have to work out whether the Institute meant to protect them from what's stirring beneath the nation's capital — or was hiding it.
