Synopsis

Nineteen-year-old Farrah Lin arrives in Shanghai for a year abroad expecting her first great romance, but the man who unsettles her most is Blake Ryan, a cocky former college football star who walked away from the sport at the height of his fame and fled overseas to keep his life simple. What begins as friction between two people with opposite outlooks deepens, over the course of a single year, into a first love neither of them planned for. As the calendar runs down toward the date Farrah is due to fly home, both must decide whether what they have can survive the distance and the lives waiting on the other side of the world. Told with warmth and a steady slow burn, the story follows the small daily intimacies of a relationship built far from home, the pull between ambition and the heart, and the ache of a love bounded by time. It opens Ana Huang's interconnected If Love series and her broader shared universe.
