Synopsis

Hundert (subtitled Was du im Leben lernen wirst — "What you will learn in life") walks through a human lifespan year by year, from age zero to one hundred, giving each year a single page: a short line about what that stage of life tends to teach or bring, paired with an illustration.

Conceived by Heike Faller and illustrated by Valerio Vidali, the book grew out of interviews Faller conducted with people of many different ages about what they had learned at each point in their lives. The result reads as much like a piece of visual philosophy as a conventional book — a quiet, illustrated reflection on aging, memory, and what different decades of life actually feel like, aimed at readers of any age rather than children specifically.
