Synopsis

Former detective Dave Robicheaux has left his old life behind for the quiet bayous of Louisiana, hoping to escape his past and his battle with alcohol. But when a plane crash introduces a young girl into his world, he's pulled back into a dangerous web of murder, deceit, and local crime. Robicheaux must confront the darkness he tried to leave behind to protect the innocent and uncover the truth.

James Lee Burke (born December 5, 1936, in Houston, Texas) is an American novelist best known for the Dave Robicheaux crime series, which began with The Neon Rain. He also writes the Billy Bob Holland and Hackberry Holland series. His novels have won three Edgar Awards for Best Novel — Black Cherry Blues (1990), Cimarron Rose (1998), and Flags on the Bayou (2024) — and in 2009 the Mystery Writers of America named him a Grand Master.
