Grievous

Morgan Myers is worn out. Her innocence was taken from her, and since then most people have either pushed her around or dismissed her. She has decided she will not put up with it any longer and wants to reclaim the life that was stolen.

To do that, she places her trust in the person she least expected: a man known as Scar. Morgan comes to see the man behind the reputation, someone named Lorenzo whom few people get to know. She likes what she finds far more than she thought she would.

But the past is not finished with her. The danger she hoped to leave behind returns, and Morgan is made to face horrors she never imagined. Some enemies cannot be beaten however hard a person fights, and hers is one of them.

The book is a dark romance that borrows the language of fairy tales, with dragons, monsters and a rescuer who wears combat boots instead of armor. Its tone is heavy, built around survival after abuse and a relationship that grows between two people who have both learned to live with frightening things.
