Synopsis

Gathering Darkness is the third novel in Morgan Rhodes's Falling Kingdoms series, a young-adult epic fantasy first published in 2014. Prince Magnus has just witnessed torture, death, and miracles during the bloody confrontation that decimated the rebel forces, and must now choose between family and justice as his father, the cruel King Gaius, sets out to conquer all of Mytica. All Gaius needs are the Kindred, four elemental crystals that grant godlike power to whoever holds them.

Princess Cleo, carrying a secret that could control Lucia's magic, joins forces with the vengeful rebel Jonas to lead the hunt for the Kindred before Gaius can claim them. Meanwhile Ashur and Amara, royal siblings from the kingdom across the Silver Sea, prove just as ruthless as they are charming as they manipulate their way toward victory. Told across multiple points of view, the book raises the stakes for every faction competing for the throne of Mytica.

"Morgan Rhodes" is the pen name Michelle Rowen writes the Falling Kingdoms series under.
