Terry Pratchett (1948–2015) was an English author best known for the Discworld series, a sequence of forty-one comic fantasy novels set on a flat world carried through space on the backs of four elephants standing on a giant turtle. Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need to read Truckers before Diggers?

Yes. Diggers is the direct sequel to Truckers and requires its events and characters. The Bromeliad Trilogy should be read in order: Truckers → Diggers → Wings.

  • Is Diggers available as a standalone?

It was published as a standalone book, but the story is a middle section of a trilogy and does not have a resolved ending. Reading the three books consecutively is strongly recommended.

  • What is the quarry in Diggers?

After the department store in Truckers is demolished, the Nomes who stayed behind relocate to a nearby quarry. The quarry setting drives the second novel's plot — it is a harsher environment that tests the Nomes' ability to form a working community.
