Synopsis

DEV1AT3 (Deviate) is the second book in Jay Kristoff's LIFEL1K3 trilogy, picking up in the wake of the battle that levelled the ruined city of Babel. The blast leaves two former best friends on opposite sides of the same hunt.

Eve is caught between the memories of the girl she thought she was and the synthetic she has turned out to be. With her lifelike "siblings" she sets out to find the real Ana Monrova, whose DNA is the key to building an army of lifelikes. Her friend Lemon Fresh, meanwhile, is coming to terms with the power she has spent her life denying — a power other people would very much like to use as a weapon. A strange boy named Grimm offers to lead her out of the wasteland to an enclave of deviates like herself, where she finds belonging and perhaps more.

Nothing in that enclave is quite what it appears, and Lemon ends up racing towards Ana Monrova too — hoping to reach her before Eve does.
