Synopsis

Delifişek (Doidão) is the third book in José Mauro de Vasconcelos's autobiographical Zezé cycle, following My Sweet Orange Tree and Awakening the Sun. Zezé — now going by other names as he grows, part of the author's device of tracking one life through a shifting cast of nicknames — has become a headstrong young man navigating early adulthood.

Where the earlier books watched Zezé as a child discovering love and loss, Delifişek follows him into his teenage and young-adult years, with all the confidence, recklessness, and relationship trouble that brings. Vasconcelos keeps his loosely autobiographical, emotionally direct style, closing out the trilogy that began with one of Brazil's most beloved childhood stories.
