Can't Take it Back

2020Audible Originals

Synopsis

Can't Take It Back follows four women in a quiet Seattle suburb over the course of one kindergarten school year. Holly, Avery, Zoe and Sasha look, from the outside, like women who have their lives arranged; the novel is about how little that appearance holds up.

Avery's husband proposes opening their marriage, an idea that appalls her and then refuses to leave her alone. Zoe and Aaron are drifting apart and weighing what a divorce would do to their two boys, and Zoe leans on her best friend Holly, whose own marriage is quietly under strain. The four storylines braid together through school pickups, group texts and the small betrayals of suburban friendship.

Kelly Duran's debut was first published as an Audible Original with a full cast of narrators, and reached print later.
