Synopsis

D'Artagnan finds himself caught between the aging King Louis XIV and the exiled Charles II of England as he navigates the dangerous politics of the French court. While the legendary Musketeers have aged, their skills and loyalty are tested by a new era of power struggles and secret diplomacy. This volume continues the sprawling saga of honor and ambition in seventeenth-century Europe.

Translated by Lawrence Ellsworth, Between Two Kings is the first volume of Dumas's Le Vicomte de Bragelonne, the concluding arc of the Musketeers Cycle that ends with The Man in the Iron Mask.
