Be Prepared

Be Prepared is the twentieth book in Disney's A Twisted Tale series, written by Farrah Rochon and built around The Lion King. It reimagines a pivotal stretch of the film by putting Nala in an uneasy, forced alliance with Scar himself, sending the two of them on a secret mission across the Pride Lands to save Pride Rock.

Rochon uses the Twisted Tale format to dig into Scar's motivations and Nala's resourcefulness well beyond what the film's runtime allowed, testing what loyalty and family mean when the story's usual heroes and villains have to work side by side. It follows the same alternate-choice structure as the rest of the series, aimed at readers who already know the beats of the original film.
