Synopsis

Another One Bites the Crust is the seventh book in Ellie Alexander's Bakeshop Mystery series, published in 2018. Juliet "Jules" Capshaw runs Torte, the family bakeshop in Ashland, Oregon, with her mother Helen.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival has returned for the season and Torte has been hired to supply Elizabethan-era pastries for the main event. On the eve of opening night, Jules's friend Lance, the festival's artistic director, gets into a very public brawl with a young actor named Anthony. The next morning Anthony is dead.

Jules knows Lance loves his drama, but she doesn't believe he is a killer. Working through a company of backstage rivalries and cast members with their own reasons to keep quiet, she tries to find the real culprit before someone else is killed. As with the rest of the series, the mystery is cosy — small-town, low-gore, food-forward — and the theatre setting does most of the atmospheric work.
