Synopsis

Eighteen months after the events of Me Before You, Louisa Clark is back in London and trying, without much success, to build a new life. She is working a dead-end job at an airport bar, living alone, and going through the motions of moving on. Then a fall from the roof of her flat lands her in hospital — and sets in motion a chain of events that will pull her back toward the past and force her to reckon with her grief.

A grief support group brings her unexpected companionship, a kind paramedic named Sam offers the possibility of something new, and the sudden arrival of a teenage girl named Lily — who claims a connection to Will Traynor — upends everything Louisa thought she had left behind.

The second novel in the Me Before You trilogy is a story about the messy, non-linear work of recovering from loss: how you honour someone you loved, and how you eventually learn to want a future of your own again. Warm and often funny, it carries Louisa's voice forward without softening the weight of what came before.
