365 Penguins
On New Year's Day, a family receives a package containing a penguin and a note: "I'm number 1. Feed me when I'm hungry." One penguin a day later, another arrives, and another, and another — until there are 365 of them. As the house fills with penguins, the family's initial bewilderment turns into a strange, penguin-filled normalcy. On New Year's Eve, a scientist named Uncle Victor explains the truth: the penguins' Antarctic home is melting, and he'd been sending them to the family one by one to keep them safe. He takes almost all of them away, leaving only one small penguin named Chilly behind. The next day, a new package arrives containing a polar bear.
