The Passing Bells
Ken Follett's "The Passing Bells" series follows five interconnected families—American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh—through the tumult of World War I and its aftermath. This historical drama explores the lives of soldiers, politicians, and ordinary citizens as they navigate a changing world.
The series, also known as The Century Trilogy, should be read in publication order: "Fall of Giants," "Winter of the World," and "Edge of Eternity." Each book covers a distinct historical period, building upon the previous one.
The books are deeply interconnected, following the descendants of five families across different nations as they experience major historical events of the 20th century. While each novel focuses on a specific era, the characters' lives and the overarching narrative continue through the trilogy.
As of my last update, there is no single comprehensive TV or film adaptation that covers the entire Century Trilogy. Individual books or parts of the series have not been adapted into a major screen production.
