Frequently asked questions
What is the reading order for the Rain Wild Chronicles within the Realm of the Elderlings?
The Rain Wild Chronicles is an integral part of Robin Hobb's larger Realm of the Elderlings series. It is recommended to read it after the Tawny Man trilogy and before the Fitz and the Fool trilogy to fully appreciate the overarching narrative and character development.
Are there any character crossovers from other Robin Hobb series in the Rain Wild Chronicles?
Yes, characters from earlier series within the Realm of the Elderlings, particularly from the Liveship Traders trilogy, appear and play significant roles in the Rain Wild Chronicles, connecting the narratives across different regions of the world.
Can the Rain Wild Chronicles be read as a standalone series?
While the series has its own distinct plot and character arcs, reading it without prior knowledge of the Liveship Traders trilogy and the Farseer and Tawny Man trilogies will diminish the impact of certain character relationships, world-building elements, and the broader political context.
