I'm mesmerized by such masterful storytelling. The whole novel takes place in an alley, a microcosm of Egyptian society, yet with all the characters' stories it feels like a world on its own. Can't wait to dive in another Naguib Mahfouz's book. (Yeah I can clearly see the irony of writing the review of an Arabic book in English)
