Synopsis

Caroline, raised in England, feels an inexplicable void until a friend's legacy leads her to Nantucket Island, her birthplace, and the mystery of her unknown father's death. Inheriting a house there feels like coming home, and she's determined to stay, despite the objections of its co-owner, the arrogant sea captain Hawkesworth Cabot Lowell. Jay Blakeney was born on 20 June 1929. Her great-grandfather was a well-known writer on moral theology, so perhaps she inherited her writing gene from him. She was "talking stories" to herself long before she could read. When she was still at school, she sold her first short stories to a woman's magazine and she feels she was destined to write.
