Synopsis

After the death of their young Greek mother and the accidental drowning of their father, twenty-one-year-old Catherine Granger has raised her two small half-brothers on her own in England. When the boys' guardianship passes to their uncle, the proud and traditional Greek shipping heir Stefan Medopolis, Catherine is unwilling to be parted from the children she has come to love as her own. Stefan invites her to come to Greece and remain part of the boys' lives, and there the real conflict begins. Independent and used to running her own life, Catherine bristles against the customs of a society where women are cherished but expected to be cared for rather than self-reliant, while Stefan's autocratic certainty clashes with her free spirit at every turn. Set among the islands and households of 1970s Greece, this vintage Harlequin Presents romance pits cultural difference and stubborn pride against a slowly kindling attraction. As Catherine adapts to an unfamiliar world and an exasperating man, mutual antagonism gives way to something neither expected, in a warm, traditional story of family, belonging, and reluctant love.
