Woman Down
Synopsis
Novelist Petra Rose is reeling from a viral backlash over the film adaptation of her latest book when she retreats to a secluded lakeside cabin, hoping to write her way back to relevance. Then Detective Nathaniel Saint arrives with unsettling news, and his presence reignites the creativity Petra thought had burned out for good.
Petra begins using Saint as the model for a new character, and their "research" curdles into an obsessive affair that she documents in meticulous detail for her manuscript. When her husband and children turn up unexpectedly, she finds herself trapped inside her own double life, where every illicit thrill has been written down and the line between fiction and reality has all but disappeared.
Colleen Hoover's psychological thriller is a tense study of fame, creativity, and the danger of a story that starts writing you back.
