Synopsis

Wolvenbloed is the Dutch edition of Blood Beast, the fifth book in Darren Shan's Demonata series. Grubbs Grady has already fought his way through several confrontations with demons across the earlier books, but this installment turns the threat inward: strange, violent symptoms that flare up around the full moon suggest that the werewolf blood running in his family isn't just family legend.

As Grubbs struggles to understand and control what's happening to him, he's forced to confront how much of the danger in his life comes from forces outside himself versus something inherited that he can't simply fight off. The book continues the series' mix of body horror, dark humor, and relentless pacing, with Shan pushing his protagonist toward a more personal, physically unsettling kind of horror than the demon battles of earlier volumes.

As with the rest of the Demonata series, the book is aimed at young-adult and teen horror readers already familiar with Grubbs's ongoing fight against the demon world, and assumes knowledge of events from the preceding four books.
