Well. I really wasn’t expecting that.
I went into this with basically no expectations and ended up completely hooked. It deals with some seriously heavy subjects, and I thought the way they were woven into the story was incredibly well done. It never felt like the difficult topics were there just to make the book sad or shocking. They actually changed the way I understood the characters and what was happening.
And then there’s the fact that I absolutely did not plan on finishing this tonight. I started reading, looked up, and somehow I was still reading several hours later because apparently sleep was less important.
This was just… really, really good. Definitely not what I expected going in.
