Wind and Truth, the fifth installment of Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive and the conclusion to its first arc, is nothing short of epic. At a staggering 1400 pages, it’s a testament to Sanderson’s mastery that I devoured it in just over a week. This book is a rollercoaster of unexpected twists, yet each one feels deeply earned and gratifying. Sanderson has an unparalleled ability to weave surprises into the narrative without sacrificing cohesion, and this installment might be his best in that regard.
The writing here is some of Sanderson’s finest. It’s one of the most quotable books he’s ever penned, filled with moments of inspiration and reflection that stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page. And then there are the level-up scenes—three of them, no less. Nobody does a level-up like Sanderson, and these moments, packed closely together, were pure dopamine overload. After reading more pages by Sanderson than any other author in my lifetime, it’s amazing to see how much he continues to grow with each book. While I’m sad to see this arc close, I can’t wait to see where the story goes next. Sanderson continues to set the bar for epic fantasy, and Wind and Truth is a triumphant capstone to an unforgettable saga.
