Synopsis

In a galaxy where quantum teleportation has made starship pilots obsolete, a washed-up ex-adventurer stumbles into impersonating Jacques McKeown, the celebrated (and widely loathed) author-hero of the old "Golden Age of Star Pilots" — a man who, unbeknownst to nearly everyone, stole most of his stories from real pilots. The impersonation spirals into a dangerous job for a crime boss whose fanboy son wants nothing more than to fly with his idol and impress his crush.

Kept in line by the boss's icy personal assistant Warden and dodging space pirates, cute-but-lethal creatures, and rival pilots hunting the real McKeown, the reluctant impostor finds saving the galaxy far messier than the old pulp novels made it look. Yahtzee Croshaw's comic space opera skewers genre nostalgia with fast, gleeful satire.
