A very LeGuinish book about a man (;) and a woman with very special abilities, that spans from the 17th to the 19th century; the man kills and breeds, the woman heals and shapeshifts. Although the allegory of the battle between male and female is obvious, the narration is so captivating that the reader doesn't feel he reads a novel of Applied Identity Studies.
