Wie ein Schatten im Sommer

Wie ein Schatten im Sommer
Synopsis
Vio hopes for a real fresh start when her family moves to a small village in southern Germany — new place, new people, a chance to be someone different. Things look even better when she falls in with a friendly group on her very first day, and the genuinely nice Konstantin turns out to be the one delivering the pizza.
Soon Vio can't imagine having lived any other way than cycling through sunlit cornfields and lying by the lake with the boy of her dreams beside her. But there's a shadow over the summer: the xenophobic remarks and views held by the crowd around Konstantin's older brother Robin. Konstantin insists he has nothing to do with them — but does he?
A German YA novel that pairs a coming-of-age summer romance with a clear-eyed look at racism and the courage it takes to confront it, even close to home.
