When the Wolf Comes Home
Jess Bailey is a struggling actress whose life changes the night she finds a runaway five-year-old boy hiding outside her apartment. A brutal encounter with the boy's father forces her to flee with the child, and as they run she uncovers a horrifying truth: the boy's deepest fears can become monstrous reality, and the "wolf" that follows them is more than a figure of speech.
Nat Cassidy's third novel — following Mary: An Awakening of Terror and Nestlings, which he has described as forming an unofficial trilogy about grief and personal loss — pairs fast, violent horror set pieces with a close, emotional account of the bond that forms between Jess and the boy as they run for their lives.
A struggling actress who takes in a runaway boy and becomes his protector.
