It was such a bittersweet read. I have so many feelings.
I found it very emotional compared to the previous books, it has a slow pace and there are paragraphs and paragraphs of inner dialogue, but I enjoyed it a lot even though sometimes this combination can be a bit tedious.
I loved Michael, he is my favorite male character in the saga, you don't know how much sorrow and sadness I felt for him during the whole book, but he is also hilarious, charming, and handsome. He is the first MCC of the saga whose emotional problem I found interesting and not just a bunch of excuses and macho attitudes, yes I'm talking about you, Philip. And the way he talked about Francesa and how he loved her had me melting in every scene.
But the one I couldn't connect with was Francesca. I really tried to understand her since her story is so sad but I couldn't, I even started to hate her in the second half. She's always running away from every difficult situation or conversation. Michael always had to chase after her and it made me so angry that he had to settle for the crumbs she gave him. I would have loved for Francesca to have taken the initiative as well, maybe not at first but the problem is that she never did.
I also felt that the problems the characters were facing on an emotional level were resolved very quickly and even though they describe all their feelings just when they have this breakthrough the author decides not to show it.
I was not expecting those spicy scenes, (not that I’m complaining, thank you, Julia) they were more explicit than the previous books.
It’s much better than the last one, that’s for sure.
