This came highly recommended from some people at work, but I’m not sure I “got it.” It was a short read, which I appreciate, but I’m afraid by the end I’m still not entirely sure what just happened? I’ll give the author another go, but I’m not terribly hopeful.

Being inside the head of a mentally ill 18-year-old girl (who acts and thinks like a 12-year-old) was a wild experience.
But possibly the worst thing about this story was how the townspeople treated the two sisters and the family. In fact, if they weren't so messed up, things probably would've been better.
Constance deserved better.

reading this felt like the antithesis of a gratifying read. the whole time it felt like I was being led to something, but it always stayed five feet away. the world building and writing is really good, but as I had felt with hill house, this will not stay in my head for more than a day. i don't know the reason why I read it. it's clickbait in the form of a wholeass book. i have more questions than answers after reading this.

A perfectly haunting weird little story! Atmospheric and bizarre, yet heartwarming... in a sense?
