Was würdest Du tun?
In 2014, Michael Bohmeyer crowdfunded 12,000 euros and gave it away — 1,000 euros a month, unconditionally, to one winner a year — launching the "Mein Grundeinkommen" (My Basic Income) project. Years later, together with journalist Claudia Cornelsen, he tracked down two dozen of the people who had received that income and asked what it actually did to their lives.
The 24 people they visit could not be more different: different ages, income levels, family situations, and expectations going in. "Was würdest Du tun?" collects their stories in their own words, structured around the questions everyone asks about basic income — would people stop working, what would they buy, would it change who they are.
The book's throughline is a reframe: the interesting question was never what people spend a no-strings-attached income on, but what having it does to how they see themselves and their choices.
