I did not particularly like the introduction, as Winter said that he removed what he felt was unnecessary. I understand that he wished this to be an introduction to St. Augustine, but how is a reader to trust Winter’s judgement? As for the Confessions themselves, I will say that I liked Part II (not the actual Confessions but Augustine’s later works) better than Part I
